A beautiful new house needs a fabulous new kitchen, and this one doesn't disappoint. Well designed, all spanking new with a drop dead gorgeous marble counter top. Who could ask for more? Gold Walls White Cabinets in Kitchen Let's start with the counter tops. The touches of blue within the warm browns and beiges just make this marble stand out as unique and exciting. Here's a close up. In addition, the back slash tiles chosen picked up the iridescent quality and colors of the counter. Here's a close up. The cabinets [...]

A New House (Continued)

I wrote about this wonderful new house that recently was built and my involvement with choosing paint colors. (See blog "A New House" May 20, 2014). The color for the entrance hall and hallways throughout the house was Sherwin Williams 0036 Buckram Binding. The house has a back entrance that leads to a mud room and back staircase. The mud room leads to the kitchen. We wanted to have a little fun with this back entrance and decided to use an accent color on one wall. Since you would see this color from the [...]

Black White and Grey

Recently a client called me to help choose colors for a house she just moved into. She hated what was there and needed help. It was a fairly new large modern center hall house. We decided to begin with the kitchen. She was not going to do major renovations for a while. The entrance hall tiles that continued throughout the kitchen were black and white marble. The cabinets and countertops were pure white. The walls had been painted a mauve pink that was awful. (I have included before and after pictures so [...]

Moving to a New House, Choosing Colors

By |2018-12-19T15:02:52+00:00June 22nd, 2013|Case Studies, Dining Rooms, Hallways, Kitchens, Living and Family Rooms, Neutral Palette|

A client called needing help choosing colors for a house they were moving into. They were doing some renovation and keeping some furniture from a previous home but basically we had a clean slate to work with. The client wanted a neutral palette. The house was a side hall Colonial with large rooms and a nice flow from one to the other. Once we chose a color we would use it throughout the space with subtle changes here and there. The upstairs bedrooms, however, would have different colors suited to the needs [...]

A New Kitchen and Den

By |2018-12-19T15:13:19+00:00April 20th, 2013|Accent Colors, Case Studies, Dining Rooms, Kitchens, Living and Family Rooms, Neutral Palette|

I was called in to do a color consultation for a new addition that included a kitchen and den as well as some existing rooms. The construction had begun but only the walls were up. I helped the client finalize choosing the cabinetry, floor, and counter tops which should be chosen before wall color. Choosing those items is the most important part of color coordination in a kitchen. We don’t change those things every day. We have to be sure that we can live with those choices for many years to come. [...]

Repainting a Kitchen

By |2018-12-19T15:39:13+00:00August 21st, 2012|Case Studies, Kitchens, Light Colors, Neutral Palette|

Beige with a Pink Tone for Kitchen and Breakfast Room This kitchen needed to be painted. The client was tired of the dark peachy color that now looked dated. The first thing I noticed was that the crown molding had never been painted and was a decorative element that now needed to be addressed. I suggested painting it the same color as the rest of the woodwork. It would open up the space and give it a light airy feeling. I chose Benjamin Moore OC-17 White Dove. The window shades [...]
